(I did add my wonderful boyfriend as an author here, but I know that he won't post much. :p)
So triggers! I'll be honest and say that I am dying to have a really solid working one. As of now, I've got a couple that are lukewarm and don't do anything particularly sexy: a verbal one that puts me to sleep (literal sleep, as in before I go to bed, you :p), and a verbal one that puts me back into trance.
I suspect that the lukewarmidity of my triggers is due to my own preconceived notions about trance, and the fact that I'm still partly guiding 'Nauzy in what to do. Usually when I go under, I am still pretty lucid and my brain is, sadly, still running a commentary on what's going on. I'd like to think that when I'm really deep I won't think at all or have much memory of what happened in the trance.
This has, happily, happened a few times; I've woken up and been like "so, how far down did you count?" because I can't remember anything past 60. But that state has been tricky to recreate --I've got to be in just the right mindset-- and apparently there're no outward indicators of when I get there, no breathing changes or REM or anything.
At the moment, my reinduction trigger works, but it's not "zappy" enough for my tastes. He'll say the words, and I'll slump down and I definitely go under, but not very deep. Full inductions work better for me (and they're hotter. :p).
But we're working on that. I'd love a reinduction trigger that just puts me out into the forgetful-place, hopefully it's not impossible. I have to learn to relax, I guess (:p). To let go.
I once used the analogy that hypnotizing me was like programming my mind (he's a computer programmer, y'see), and 'Nauzy noted: "ah! 90 percent of it is debugging!"

Heya Arel, that's some nice bloggage ;o)
Solid triggers can sometimes take a while to get working as convincingly as you'd like them to. Ironically, it's often the people who've never given much thought to hypnosis who end up being the best "instant" subjects. (And those of us who've been dying for *years* to be zapped into helpless submission find that to begin with, all that happens is you feel kinda chilled out and agreeable.)
Practice *does* make perfect though. When I started out with Liz, she was worried that she was just playing along with my suggestions, and that at any moment, if she really wanted to, she could wake from the trance and disobey commands. Now though, one click of my fingers and she folds up unresistingly. (If we ever get chatting on cam, I'll give you a demonstration ;o)
It'll come in time, I'm sure you've noticed a big difference already between how deeply you're able to go into trance now compared to how it was when you started out.
If you've had any experience with self triggering, you could always ask Nauzy to create a self-trigger whereby running a commentary on what's being done with you while you're under makes you feel more dazed and sleepy.
Looking forward to reading more about your experiences.
Lex.
Cool blog!
I think there are two things that'll help out the "zappiness" of your reinduction trigger - one is practice and repetition (greasing that slide into trance until it's just a fall), the other is getting yourself to consciously "let go" when you hear the trigger. Don't wait for the effect, help the effect - and after the first several times, consciously letting go will become habitual letting go, and eventually unconsciously letting go, and your trigger will be just about instant. :-)
And yay for another hypnofetishist New Englander!

I've dated one natural somnabulist, whose triggers and post-hypnotic suggestions worked excellently on. Unfortunately, I think she is the rare type.
Two other women I've been with could reach that level on a semi-regular basis. It took an extremely long induction period... upwards of at least an hour with me constantly touching and rubbing them... both relaxing them and keeping them from falling fully asleep.
I've noticed that bringing them out of hypnosis with a posthypnotic suggestion that they will go deeper with each succession... and then repeating that in and out seems to help. I know scientific studies didn't find that it did, this is just my personal experience.
I've also had a lot of luck in using something to focus their eyes on. Fireplace worked perfectly, followed by candles. It's not the fire, it's the bright light surrounded by darkness that aids in their concentration.
welcome to hypnoblogging!
it gets addicting, even though I've not posted in a while on mine... it's got a fair amount of material on it though, if you're ever curious and want to check it out, I'm such a comment whore... haha
And yes, practice will make you go deeper and faster, each time.
Take care! x Hope to hear more soon.

Dude, I have readers! :O
Lex: Thanks! Practice does make perfect and yes, I can go a *lot* deeper now that I used to. I'll talk to Nauzy about the self-trigger; it's a good idea. And I may take you up on the cam offer sometime. :p
SirQittus: Yay new england indeed! We'll definitely be doing repetiton, thanks.
Anonymous: Focal points work excellently, I agree.
Yin: thanks! I've got your blog bookmarked and such.
